East Vancouver fire displaces two people

first_imgA fire Tuesday heavily damaged a garage and its contents and displaced two people in east Vancouver.Firefighters were called to 2280 N.E. 128th Ave. at about 10:30 a.m. for a structure fire, according to emergency dispatch logs.Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Mark Johnston said an engine crew was on its way back from a call when it spotted smoke, then went to investigate.They found that a home’s attached garage had caught fire, along with the vehicle and contents inside.“When they got there, they were right on it, so their response time was about 3 minutes total,” he said.He said the fire did extensive damage to the garage and everything inside.Johnston said the home’s two occupants reported the fire when they opened a door to the garage. There were no smoke detectors in the garage.last_img
