While the ARC and PLC programs under the new farm bill remain very similar to the previous farm bill, there are some changes that producers should be aware of.Farm Bill meetings will review changes to the ARC/PLC programs as well as important dates and deadlines. Additionally, attendees will learn about decision tools and calculators available to help, which program best fits the needs of their farms under current market conditions and outlook.Enrollment for 2019 is currently open with the deadline set as March 15, 2020. Enrollment for the 2020 crop year closes June 30, 2020. Producers can enroll for both 2019 and 2020 during the same visit to an FSA county office. Producers have the opportunity to elect to either ARC or PLC for the 2019 to 2023 crop years, with the option to change their program election in 2021, 2022, and 2023.For more specifics about a meeting near you click here.To find out about upcoming meetings, and get information about the Farm Bill, visit go.osu.edu/farmbill2019.

New Delhi, Feb 16 (PTI) A section of the twitterati today attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for posting a cartoon which shows a Hanuman-esque figure assuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi that public attention has been diverted towards JNU from other pressing issues.Kejriwal posted the cartoon, published in a leading national daily, on his Twitter account. Within minutes, #Kejriwalinsultshanuman started trending.A person lodged a police complaint against the Delhi CM in Hyderabad seeking “appropriate action” against him for “hurting religious sentiments”.The point of contention appeared to be a character sporting a tail which can be seen flying towards Modi while assuring him, “Done Sir, all attention is on JNU”. The PM is shown standing amid raging fires over several socio-economic and security issues. #KejriwalInsultsHanuman. There’s a joke doing the rounds among some Real Madrid fans that, now Cristiano Ronaldo has gone, they can finally admit what they have always known to be true; that Lionel Messi really is the best player in the world. This represents one of the more humorous anecdotes surrounding the summer departure of CR7 to Juventus but, as with all gags, it is not without an element of truth. While Cristiano was their man, there could be no debate among Blancos. Now he is gone, it is another story altogether. But, in order to understand what has and will happen to Real Madrid following his exit, we need to take a step back and look at what life was like when he was in the Spanish capital. Editors’ Picks Man Utd ready to spend big on Sancho and Haaland in January Who is Marcus Thuram? Lilian’s son who is top of the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach Brazil, beware! Messi and Argentina out for revenge after Copa controversy Best player in MLS? Zlatan wasn’t even the best player in LA! Five years ago, a Real Madrid legend – who will remain nameless – told me that there would be no tears shed for Ronaldo when he left. At this time the Portuguese was at the very peak of his powers. The truth is that – in some circles – there was always the sense that Cristiano was a goal mercenary and, more troublingly, someone who thought he was as big as the club. This was something that did not sit well with everyone.During Jose Mourinho’s time as coach between 2010 and 2013, many of Ronaldo’s team-mates were told to praise him publicly – and practically pay homage to him – such was his importance to winning games. These demands were never going to create a harmonious dressing room, however important his contribution. It was only when Ronaldo dared to stand up to Mourinho – challenging his authority – that he really earned the respect of his colleagues and became one of the team’s leaders along with Sergio Ramos.Ronaldo’s diva-like attitude was frequently excused with statements such as “well, you know what he’s like” as Madrid made a Faustian pact that permitted individualistic behaviour in exchange for outstanding performances. The fact the players accepted his ways and whims does not mean they liked his antics, nor that they liked him. Ronaldo was far from the most popular man in the Madrid changing room, although he did enjoy a close friendship with Marcelo. With everyone else, he endured a mostly business-like relationship. When Ronaldo’s time at Madrid came to an end – following Florentino Perez’s refusal to hand him a new, lucrative contract – the Ballon d’Or winner was obliged by the club to sign a letter stating that it was he who had indeed asked to leave for Juventus. This was the main reason why Ronaldo did not want a public farewell because it would have meant he would have had to share a stage with Perez. And so what of the future for this Real team?Following his departure, Real Madrid failed to sign any new Galacticos – though not through a lack of trying. First they attempted to lure Kylian Mbappe to the Santiago Bernabeu in order to prepare for Ronaldo’s exit, and then they looked to entice Neymar. On both occasions, PSG snubbed them at the earliest opportunity. Unable to recruit a Galactico, the only other option they had was either spending money on players who were willing to join, such as Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, or keeping their powder dry and strengthening the team in other key positions. Many key figures inside the club were in agreement that there was little point in spending big on players who were no better than those already in the squad. This has been Madrid’s transfer policy in recent years, with the last Galactico to be signed being James Rodriguez in 2014. Real may be a huge club but they also have to be wary of their debt, estimated to be as high as €600 million (£539m/$697m).Ronaldo’s departure thus opened the door for Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale to come to the fore, as well as for Marco Asensio to accelerate his development. And, despite all the doom and gloom predicted by many experts, things have gone swimmingly for the Blancos and their attackers thus far.Everyone certainly seems to be rising to the occasion and this is a Real Madrid playing more as a team, with extra emphasis on possession football and a greater application on collective pressure.Last season, Madrid endured a miserable start to the campaign, taking just seven points from their first five games. This term, they have a 100 per cent record in La Liga after three matches and a plus-eight goal difference.Bale’s form has been peaking since the end of last season and he now has 10 goals in his last 10 games, while Asensio has earned three penalties since the start of the campaign.Benzema, meanwhile, scored a Ronaldo-type goal from outside the box at the weekend – a collector’s item if ever there was one – and his movement all around the pitch has been fantastic. He scored only five league goals last season, this term he already has four. The Frenchman is also benefitting from the greater possession that Madrid are enjoying, not least because he loves being part of the creative process. In the final third, Madrid have so many options with Dani Carvajal and Marcelo down the sides, and Asensio making runs in behind. The 22-year-old has the potential to become one of the best players in the world this season and could hit 20 goals. Mixing all these weapons and possession with a high pressing game and diagonal passes from Sergio Ramos to the wings and Madrid are looking like a very complete team offensively. And, at the other end, Madrid now have strength in depth between the sticks with the best goalkeeper at the World Cup, Thibaut Courtois, joining UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year Keylor Navas.Speaking of Europe, we return to Ronaldo who this week was not selected as Europe’s best player by UEFA – the honour going instead to his former Madrid team-mate Luka Modric.I was there for the event staying at the same hotel as Ronaldo and watched on as, half an hour before the event began, his entourage proceeded to get themselves into a lather as CR7 chose not to attend the gala having learned he’d been snubbed. This was a shame because waiting for him was his former president Florentino Perez who hoped that everyone – especially the media – would be there to see him give Ronaldo a hug.His non-appearance coupled with his recent statement – effectively a message to his former employers – about how much he felt at home at Juventus because it was like a family was typical Ronaldo; outspoken. Some would say it was unnecessarily tactless.“It’s the biggest club in Italy, one of the best in the world, so it was an easy decision,” he told JuventusTV .“So far, I feel the people at the club are different, they are nice and like a family. The supporters are the same.”But, as Sergio Ramos stated in a swift reply, Madrid no longer have to cover up and overlook Ronaldo’s emotional and egotistical behaviour. The European champions have turned over a new leaf and so far things are going well without their all-time record scorer.
India’s tennis team captain and coach Zeeshan Ali said Leander Paes’s last-minute pull out from the 18th Asian Games is a big blow to India’s medal prospects in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles.Paes pulled out from the Games on Thursday after not being paired with a double specialist. The 45-year-old Paes, who last played at the Asian Games in 2006, is in the twilight of his career. He has five gold medals to his name in the Asian Games, starting from the Hiroshima edition in 1994.Paes was expected to team up with Ramkumar Ramanathan or Sumit Nagal at the showpiece event. While Rohan Bopanna will partner Divij Sharan in the men’s doubles event.Miffed Leander Paes withdraws from Asian Games 2018 in IndonesiaAli said he tried his best to convince Paes to change his mind but the 18-time Grand Slam champion eventually decided against coming to Palembang after expressing his disappointment over selectors not picking a doubles specialist to play with him.”It is obviously very disappointing to not to have Leander. It is a big blow to us. But then again he is a complete professional. It is his decision completely and his patriotism for the country cannot be questioned,” Ali told PTI before a practice session here today.”Having said that, Paes needed to be here irrespective of whoever he was going to play with as he volunteered to represent the country,” Zeeshan said. The former Davis Cupper said that his focus is now is to rejig the doubles combination after Paes’ pull-out.advertisementAsian Games 2018: India’s top medal contenders in Indonesia”But I have to forget that he is not coming and focus on rearranging doubles team, my mixed doubles team. There is no doubt that we will be missing Leander with all his experience in guiding the youngsters on court.”Ali has time till 10 am Sarurday to submit the names of the players but hopes to come to a conclusion after another practice session in the evening on Friday. The singles combinations in both categories have been decided with Ramanathan, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, Ankita Raina and Karman Kaur Thandi shouldering India’s challenge while Bopanna and Dvij Sharan will be the specialist doubles pairing.Either of the singles specialist, Ramanathan or Nagal would have played with Paes, but now that he is not here, it will be a doubles team of primarily singles players with Gunneswaran also in the mix now.India at Asian Games 2018: Full squadIndia’s sole gold in the last edition at Incheon came in the mixed doubles but in Paes’ absence, the planning has gone haywire.”I think it makes a big a difference to us in the mixed doubles. Who would play with Rohan and Leander could have been decided only once he came. Now it is a different team we would be looking at. The tough bit is that everyone’s playing styles are different. Most likely Divij will replace Paes in the mixed doubles.”So it is going back to the drawing board. We are trying to work the combinations out so, see which style suits which pair. I am definitely going by rankings as far as the combinations are concerned. Since we don’t have time, it doesn’t give us much room for experimentation,” Zeeshan said.India at Asian Games 2018: DisciplinesHe has three women’s players to choose from – Raina, Thandi and Prarthana Thombare and see who are the best two suited to play alongside Bopanna and Sharan.Couldn’t Paes have made up his mind earlier?”It is something you have to ask him. It is a last minute decision that he has taken. I have been on the phone with him constantly. I tried to convince him to come here. My duty is get all the top players here. But you have to respect his decision. You can never doubt his commitment to play for India at any event.”The only thing I am feeling bad right now is, if he had decided earlier to not come even two weeks or 10 days ago, we would have got a specialist doubles team in place,” the Indian coach lamented.”We have five doubles players in the top-100 (including Bopanna, Sharan, Paes, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Purav Raja). Even N Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan have been doing extremely well. The only thing I am upset about is that we won’t be able to field a second specialist doubles team,” he added.(With PTI inputs)

When do we get to stop jabbering about the Patriots? Last winter, the New England Patriots marched through the playoffs and won the Super Bowl. Then we spent all spring and summer worrying about whether their quarterback, Tom Brady, had knowingly deflated footballs — and then we had to start the conversation over again when his four-game suspension was overturned. And now that football is actually being played, the Pats are still on everyone’s minds: At 3-0, with the NFL’s second-best SRS rating,1SRS is the Simple Rating System, Pro-Football-Reference.com’s way of adjusting a team’s average scoring margin for the strength of its schedule. (The upstart Falcons are No. 1.) they’ve started so hot as to inspire speculation about another 16-0 season. But the Patriots media frenzy may have finally swallowed itself when Skip Bayless was asked on Tuesday’s “First Take” about New England’s chances of going undefeated and said it was “extremely probable” that the Patriots would go 16-0.We touched on this during a segment of our sports podcast, Hot Takedown (Pats chatter begins at the 7:00 mark), but the notion that it’s “extremely probable” for any team to go 16-0 after three weeks of the season was too absurd for us to confine our dissent to a podcast.Let’s get this out of the way: It’s extremely improbable that New England will win each of its remaining 13 games. According to our Elo ratings (a system for estimating each NFL team’s strength at any given moment), New England has only a 4.4 percent probability of navigating the rest of its schedule without a loss. In other words, if you played out 100 versions of the 2015 season, the Pats would fail to go undefeated in about 96 of them. Bayless is holding out for our real-life timeline to be one of the four leftovers. It’s easy to see why the Patriots are so unlikely to win out. They aren’t even favorites in all of their remaining contests — Elo says there’s a 53 percent chance they lose to Denver on the road in late November. And among the games in which they are favored, they’re far from guaranteed victors. Nine teams have a greater than 20 percent chance of knocking them off — there’s a 42 percent chance they don’t even emerge from their bye week and make it to 4-0 against the Cowboys on Oct. 11. (Granted, Elo is unaware that Dallas will be without QB Tony Romo for that game, but a Romo adjustment would still leave New England with roughly a one-third chance of being upset.)This year’s Patriots team is really good. Through three weeks, the 2015 edition has a slightly better Elo rating (1698) than the 2007 version that went 16-0 had (1697) at the same point in the season.2If this sounds contrary to what I said at the 9:05 mark of this week’s Hot Takedown, it’s because I goofed. There I was referring to the fact that, in the subset of our Elo simulations where New England went 16-0 this season, its final Elo rating of 1820 was slightly lower than the 1832 mark the Pats had after the 2007 regular season. But that’s all down the road — as of now, three weeks in, the 2015 Patriots’ Elo is slightly higher. But the 2007 Patriots were arguably the best team in pro football history (to the extent such a thing exists), and they still required a great deal of luck in close wins in the second half of their schedule. It’s very hard to go undefeated, which is a big part of why streaks capture our imagination. If it were as easy as Bayless seems to think it is, we wouldn’t care as much. Read more: The Best NFL Teams Of All Time, According To Elo
